I chose to create a 24-page poetry book over the topic of depression. It's a topic that is very personal to me and I wanted to tell a story of living with depression and slowly being able to overcome it. I wanted to keep things black and white to convey a solemn tone, but I added in pops of yellow as it is not only my favorite color, but also it symbolizes happiness. I included drawings of dandelions as well because they symbolize overcoming hardship. Additionally, I included a faint semicolon on the cover and artist bio page as a nod to Project Semicolon, a nonprofit advocating mental health with an anti-suicide mission.
